First, choose the right spot and height for your residential flagpole. It is important to see the flag from various angles. Do you see the flag clearly from different angles? Are you able see it from all angles? You can click this to choose something in between.
Next, choose your flagpole material. Aluminum is the most common material used to make residential flagpoles. It’s lightweight, strong, affordable, and easy to maintain. Fiberglass takes second place due to its durability and resistance to soiling and scratching.
You can choose from either an interior or external halyard system. The halyard controls the flag’s raising or lowering. It consists of a rope (or cable) that is pulled through the top using a truck or pulley. External halyards can be attached to this pole from the exterior. The base is simply pinned with a pin to wrap the cable or rope. On the inside of the pole is an internal halyard. This slot is ideal for attaching special winches and handles. An internal system can be used to attach halyards to areas that are susceptible of vandalism.
Next, select the color of the pole. You might also consider custom ornaments, such as a finial, ball or eagle for your pole.
To place the flag, dig a hole. The hole’s dimensions will be affected by the flagpole’s size and shape. Fill the hole with concrete once it has been soaked. Insert the flag into a steel groundsleeve. Concrete corrodes most flag materials. Ten percent of the pole’s length should remain underground. The manufacturer can answer any questions you may have about the installation. In most cases, the manufacturer will be able to install your flag.
